Epic Of Gilgamesh Enkidu Vs. free essay sample

Gilgamesh Essay, Research Paper Gilgamesh and Enkidu are both similar and different in many ways. Some of their traits affect each other throughout the class of the secret plan, whether it be their actions or their character. Gilgamesh, a male monarch who is two-thirds God and one-third homo, begins in the narrative as a really chesty and authoritarian adult male. The Gods gave him every ground to be when they endowed with a perfect organic structure, wealth, power, and the ability to transfuse fear into his topics. However, I would presume that the Gods had hoped he would hold been slightly low despite the gifts bestowed upon him, and instead, utilize them to heighten his function as a male monarch. In an effort to humble him, the Gods create Enkidu. Enkidu, a wild best of a adult male, seems to be chiefly the personification of what is evil. He is in no manner out to do familiarities or do a name for himself. We will write a custom essay sample on Epic Of Gilgamesh Enkidu Vs. or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page His exclusive intent is to # 8220 ; absorb Gilgamesh # 8217 ; s energies. # 8221 ; He lives like a animal and has no contact with anyone. Finally the two battle, ensuing in a triumph to Gilgamesh. Enkidu becomes his faithful friend. This battle and the formation of a friendship base as the first consequence upon each other # 8217 ; s character. I believe Enkidu additions a batch of regard for Gilgamesh and is much more low at this point. Suggested by his actions subsequently on in the narrative, Enkidu besides has a new found sense of trueness to something other than himself. As for Gilgamesh, other than a possible thankfulness for his new found friend, I think his character is left unaffected, or even worse, the exact antonym of what the Gods had set out to make. In other words, it # 8217 ; s possible that he has become even more chesty than earlier. The conflict of Humbaba besides shows us some of the traits of the two. First of wholly, during the journey to Humbaba # 8217 ; s sphere, Enkidu seems to demo us a caring side along with his trueness. He intends to forestall Gilgamesh from contending for fright of his decease. It is at this point where we truly acquire a feeling for Gilgamesh # 8217 ; s bravery and daring. His look of portion of the # 8220 ; warrior-king # 8221 ; which can merely consequence in a conflict is testament to that. We can besides see a continuance of his haughtiness and egoism. His purpose for the conflict is non to contend in the name of the people he stands for, but to foster his ain good being and do a name for himself. Throughout the class of the conflict, we gain insight into Gilgamesh # 8217 ; s exposure of which we had seen nil of earlier. This is the first clip we see Gilgamesh as a homo. His is full of fright ad eventually is forced to pray for aid. In this subdivision of the narrative, you truly get down to detect a sort of dependence of Enkidy for Gilgamesh. He seems to truly suit the profile of the authoritative buddy. Enkidu is fearful and hesitant of event while Gilgamesh, his leader, is full-force in front into any event. In the confrontation with Humbaba, we recognize how Enkidu is much shrewder and less swearing than Gilgamesh. Humbaba begs for his life and offers everything he has in exchange for it. Gilgamesh seems to hold commiseration upon him, nevertheless, Enkidu persuades him to be unbearable and kills him. Enkidu displays a sort of selfishness here that is really similar to that of Gilgamesh. He will hear of no other going Alliess with Gilgamesh. He is and ever will be Gilgamesh # 8217 ; s merely true comrade. You sort of admiration whether or non, up to this point, Gilgamesh # 8217 ; s character has rubbed off on Enkidu. The following two alterations in character can be attributed to Enkidu # 8217 ; s dream every bit good as his decease. Enkidu seems to go really low once more due to his dream and really truly so. His dream foreshadowed his ain decease. This affects Gilgamesh every bit good. He realizes one once more that he is a human will decease someday excessively. This is the greatest humbling consequence upon Gilgamesh in the whole narrative. He begins to convey up inquiries about decease and immortality. It seems as if Enkidu, through his decease, has accomplished that which was the intent of his creative activity. All in all, the narrative of this heroic poem is to a great extent based upon the character of Gilgamesh and Enkidu and how their character affected one another through the friendly relationship they had formed.

Your Own Home Theater Essays - Television, Software, Netflix

Your Own Home Theater IMC Campaign Vanier College Team: Mark Gergely, Zackary Seferian George Gellad Table of Content Situation Analysis Overview Netflix is a company that provides individuals with movies and TV series. They started out in 1997, but it is only in 1998 that services started to be provided by sending DVD's by mail directly to the consumer's home. Their main goal was and still is to provide the population with on screen entertainment without having to purchase each individual movie. In the United States, Netflix started streaming in 2007, without getting rid of the mailing service. For Canadians, this process was only available starting 2010. Today, Netflix is growing each year, because of its low fee (8$ CAD per month) and spares people of having to buy each movie that they want to watch individually. One single movie will most likely cost more than the monthly subscription to Netflix. All you need as a customer to be able to use Netflix's services, is to have internet connection (on the device of your choice) and a Netflix subscription. *Note: there is much more content provided in the United States by Netflix that there is in Canada. Also, there is even less content available in Europe. Netflix has huge opportunities for the future and we can see why: Today, DVD sales are declining significantly. There still a lot of people that prefer to have a physical copy of their favorite movies and the members of our campaign is convinced that there will always be a marked for DVD's (just like there is still a demand in vinyl regardless of the fact that most music these days are downloaded or streamed online). Netflix has a great potential of growing (even if it is already a "big thing") because it offers a convenient way of watching on screen entertainment without having to go to a store or order the content online. Netflix is cheap, easy to use and offers plenty of variety. Netflix has a broad target market. It can be used by people of all ages. The only people that will not be part of this target market are the traditional ones that prefer buying DVDs, but even these people, while being conservative, will find content on Netflix that is not available in a physical form. This brings us to the Netflix exclusive series ("Stranger Things", "House of Cards"). This brand is doing an excellent job of bringing clientele by offering series that aren't available anywhere else. Last year only, Netflix released about 126 original series. So, when all this exclusive content becomes popular, traditional people don't have a choice but to watch it on Netflix. This means that they will eventually subscribe, pay the monthly fee and now they are also hooked to Netflix. For the past years, Netflix has been advertising on TV as well as on Billboards. They focused more on promoting their exclusive series in order to bring more subscribers. Netflix is advertising on all the most popular social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They obviously have their website where you can sign up and watch movies as well as TV series , plus their exclusive content. In the year 2000, Blockbuster wanted to buy Netflix for 50 million US dollars. They refused and in 2002 they became a public company. They had t heir first profit in 2003 which topped out at 6.5 million US dollars (with a revenue 272 million US dollars. Their current marked share is priced around 140 dollars US. Today, they have almost 430 outstanding shares. One major problem that Netflix has, is that they offer content mostly in North America. Already Canada has less content that the US, but in Europe the availability is even shorter. If you take Romania for example, you can only find 10% of what is diffused in the United States. Our campaign if focused on Canada, but o ne thing we would like to improve perhaps in another campaign , is to offer more content to the rest of the world. As for the brand image, at the beginning of the 21 st century, Netflix established red to be its main color. Market Profile This

individual reflection on Jesus as the vine and we are the Branches Essays

individual reflection on Jesus as the vine and we are the Branches Essays individual reflection on Jesus as the vine and we are the Branches Essay individual reflection on Jesus as the vine and we are the Branches Essay My contribution to the group isnt exactly big as to the conflicts between schedules and communication but I have been able to provide an answer and an understanding of the title/image of Jesus that were given to us. And that might not be like shooting, or participating in the video but it is big in terms of understanding and actually realizing the purpose of the project. As for the specific information I have learned about the life and mission of Jesus? Well, based on my understanding of Jesus as the vine and we are the branches, He serves as our basis and center for growth. He serves as vines in our lives, in a way that without Him, we would not be able to fully grow as a person and to be able also to fulfill our mission in life. He is what connects us and makes us grow and bloom further in life as with the help also of God. I have realized from this project that His mission is to also help us in our mission as creations of God. We cannot fully grow and pursue things we want and eed in life without the guidance of God and our dependence and faith in both God and Jesus. For myself, I have realized that creating a stronger, like the branches with the vine, if taken properly, grows and blooms in the most beautiful way possible. And as for me as a creation of God, it is by having strong faith in Jesus and truly putting in my mind and heart Gods Word and Will and Just being Christ-centered In everything. As the branches only weaken when it is not fed and taken care of like the relationship with Jesus and God with us.

Effective Performance Appraisal System Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Effective Performance Appraisal System - Essay Example The systems approach will identify the barriers and emphasize on defining the objective of performance appraisal, determine what time would be effective for conducting the process, the addition of some effective appraisal categories, and concentrating on the result of the appraisal and finding loopholes if necessary. I can consider the systems performance appraisal approach being used in my organization effectively as it is based on all the factors discussed above and it also takes into account some other factors such as results, objectives, behavior, competencies and several arrangements of methods. In this paper I will further discuss how I would ensure that the solution I recommended complies with five requirements defined by Cascio, which are sensitivity, relevance, reliability, practicality and acceptability. I will also be shedding light on how by preventing some legal difficulties the organization can avoid the rating error. The results of the previous assessment will also be compared with the finding in order to analyze the recommended performance appraisal system (Kondrasuk, 2012). The terms performance reviews and performance evaluation hold the same meaning as the â€Å"Performance Appraisal†. Performance appraisal is considered to be the assessment conducted to evaluate the performance of employees. It is also defined as an assessment conducted to provide the employees feedback on their performance. Performance appraisal is also defined to be a system where the expected job performance is compared with employee’s actual job performance, providing feedback to the employees so that they may change their goals accordingly and enhance their performance in future. A WOMAN'S CURSE Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

A WOMAN'S CURSE - Assignment Example A woman going through such situation could be certain that she could become pregnant, though presently not pregnant, but healthy enough to become pregnant. Writing through the Beverly Strassmann empirical research work, having lived for over two years among the Dogon of Mali in West Africa, being part of their culture, and the menstruating women were being confined to menstrual huts that are behind the compound of the village. Urine samples collected by the researcher showed that the women did not visit the huts throughout the pregnancy or during the period when there is an absence of menstruation. This means that the menstrual taboos of the Dogon traditional culture were useful in providing men with the genuine signals of female reproductive status. An implication of Strassman’s work might be reflected that modern lifestyles and the proliferation in the use of contraceptives might be in conflict with a woman’s naturally evolving biological developments. To support this proposition, she noted that the Dogon women menstruate 10 times while western women counter parts menstruate at least 400 times and even more. A feature may lead to cancer prone among the western women folk more than he Dogon traditional women folk. The study by Strassman, as analyzed by the author has proposed the interplay between biology and culture in human reproduction, a leading factor in human behaviour

Culture report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Culture report - Essay Example The students that attend this high school have many obstacles to overcome in their lives. The reservation is a place of high poverty, high unemployment and high rates of substance abuse. It is the type of environment that keeps people from succeeding in life. Yet, this remarkable high school basketball team seems to find a way to win every year. They have won five state championships against much larger, well-funded schools. One of the secrets to the success of the team is their dedicated coach Al Redman. The movie focuses on Beaver C’Bearing and the work he and his coach put into winning. It shows that the boys on the team succeed by working hard to hone their skills and by working together. The movie shows that unfortunately, the lessons learned on the basketball court often do not translate to life on the reservation. Much of the conversation in the movie centers on players that were once great but have failed to have successful lives. II. Relevance of the movie CHIEFS to M arketing There is a lot of relevance in the movie CHIEFS to cross cultural marketing. One of the aspects of culture that was displayed in this movie of Native American culture seems to be the aspect of a focus on shared ownership of public goods. The Chiefs basketball team belongs to the reservation. It occurs to me that this is truer for this community of Native Americans than it is for the typical American community with a more Euro-centric culture. The Chiefs literally belong to the community, no one person or group has more of an interest in them than anyone else does. That is why everyone leaves the reservation to go see the Chiefs play their games in the playoffs. What this means for marketing is that any attempt to market the mystique, culture or logo of the Chiefs would have to be done in a way that benefits the entire community. If any one single individual or group were to try to monopolize access or attempt to brand the Chiefs in a way that excluded the community at large , I believe that this person would have a difficult time succeeding. This team is truly the heart and the soul of the Wind River Reservation in some ways. It is more than a source of pride, it is a public good, and therefore the public will have to be supportive of any marketing efforts involving the team. III. Personal Reaction to the viewing of the movie CHIEFS. I really enjoyed the movie and the crowd that had gathered to watch the movie. I really got caught-up in the stories of these basketball players and how difficult their lives were. I never felt sorry for them, because they seemed so determined to succeed at basketball. I felt that the writer and director of the film did a great job depicting the challenges Beaver C’Bearing and his teammates faced, without sensationalizing the challenges they face off the court. At times, the movie was sad, but always made me feel as though in the end the people on the team would somehow, against all the odd succeed in life and in th e game of basketball. I could not help pull for the team in each one of their games, even though the players were flawed and imperfect people. Right to the end of the movie, I believed that these people were going to win. I wanted them to win because it appears as though they were dealt such an unfair hand by fate and by their circumstances. However, I liked the fact that the
